Individual Awards
Overview
The ITE Mid-Atlantic Section (MASITE) presents Award plaques at the Business Meeting during lunch at the Annual Meeting for the following categories:
- President’s Award (selected by current President)
- Section Member of the Year (nominated by membership, selected by Board)
- Young Member of the Year (nominated by membership, selected by Board)
- Committee Member of the Year (nominated by Board and Chairs, selected by Board)
- Donald M. Mc Neil Award (nominated and selected by Board – not awarded every year)
- Inspiring Educator Award (nominated by STEM Coordinator, selected by Board - not awarded every year)
Call for Nominations are sent June/July of the awarding year to all MASITE members. Deadline for Nominations are two months prior to the Annual Meeting of that year. Details on these and other awards can be found below.
President's Award
The President’s award was started in 2004 and is given at the discretion of the current President at the Annual Meeting held in the fall.
The ITE Mid-Atlantic Section (MASITE) recognizes the past recipients of the President’s Award:

Section Member of the Year
The Section Member of the Year award was started in 2021. The Section Member of the Year award is open to any member of MASITE who is currently not serving on the elected board. It is awarded to recognize a member who has significantly contributed to the betterment of the Section in the nominating year.
Nominations are open to the entire membership. Nominee should:
- have been a Section member in good standing for at least five years,
- not currently serving on the elected Board,
- have a history of regular attendance at Section meetings,
- participate in Section activities other than formal committees or elected offices, and
- be otherwise unrecognized for their contributions to the Section.
- has made a significant contribution to the betterment of the Section.

Young Member of the Year
The Younger Member of the Year award was started in 2021. The Younger Member of the Year is open to any member of MASITE who will be 35 or younger as of January 1st of the awarding year. It is awarded to a younger member who has been a visible volunteer within the Section and has gone above and beyond with their service to MASITE. Nominations are open to the entire membership. Nominee should:
- be aged 35 or younger as of January 1 of the awarding year
- a current member of the Section in good standing for at least two years, and
- a Section officer or active committee member.
- has gone above and beyond as a visible volunteer within the Section.

Committee Member of the Year
The Committee Member of the Year award was started in 2021. This award is any committee member who does an outstanding job as part of the committee for which they serve. Nominations are open to the elected board and committee chairs. Nominee should:
- have been a Section member in good standing for at least eight years,
- be an active or past member of Section committees,
- have a history of regular attendance at Section meetings,
- participate in Section activities other than formal committees or elected offices, and
- be otherwise unrecognized for their contributions to the Section.

Donald M. McNeil Award
The Donald M. McNeil Award is given to members of the Mid-Atlantic Section as recognition of years of outstanding service to the Section and the Institute. Donald M. McNeil was a founding member of the Institute from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and it is in his memory that the award is presented. The award is not necessarily awarded every year.

Rising Star Award
ITE International requests at the being of the year for the Sections to submit a candidate for the Young Leaders to Follow/Rising Star Program. This MASITE Candidate is submitted to the Mid-Colonial District, and the District selects one winner to be submitted to ITE International.
