Project of the Year
General Overview
The ITE Mid-Atlantic Section (MASITE) Project of the Year award is bestowed to a project(s) that apply innovative methods and techniques to solve a transportation problem/issue for the overall betterment of the community. The project should clearly demonstrate the use of effective and trend-setting solutions that reflect in-depth knowledge in the field of transportation. The Section’s intent is to recognize and honor the accomplishments of the associated project team for superior performance and execution of exemplary engineering and project management, the outcome of the transportation study or project, as well as the effects of the study or project itself.
The ITE Mid-Atlantic Section (MASITE) presents The Project of the Year at the Business Meeting during lunch at the Annual Meeting. Call for Submissions are sent a minimum of three months prior to the Annual Meeting of the awarding year to all MASITE members. Deadline for Submissions are two months prior to the Annual Meeting of that year.

Eligibility Requirements

- Transportation Study or Project must be located within the MASITE region, including Delaware, Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and West Virginia - The competition is limited to agencies/consultants and projects located within the MASITE geographic area
- Project should be able to highlight substantial involvement of at least one MASITE member and be submitted by a MASITE member.
- Project may be of any type (Transportation planning/study, traffic engineering/design, safety or TSMO/construction) or magnitude
- must have been completed between August 1st of the previous year and July 29th of the current year
- provide study, design or construction costs (or estimated construction costs), as appropriate for the project
- The committee will accept submission of projects that are work-in-progress. However, should your project be selected for the award, the same project cannot be submitted again for consideration the next two (2) years.

- Additional project information (not to exceed three pages, including a description of the project, photographs, graphics, and a description of why the project is deserving of this award),
- A display board 22"x34" (PDF and image file) with project photos and summary description
- The display board will be provided for the Annual Meeting on a 22"x34" foam board and delivered to the Annual Meeting venue on the first day of the Annual Meeting. Please note all submissions become the property of MASITE and will not returned. Materials will only be used by MASITE for display at the Annual Meeting, as well as within MASITE promotional materials (meeting brochures, bi-weekly emails, etc).

Projects Submitted for this Award are Judged on the Following Criteria:

- Project complexity and uniqueness (with application of innovative solutions and ideas) of the project (30%)
- Social, environmental, and significance of the project to the relevant community/area (30%)
- Use of sound engineering principles and aesthetics (30%)
- Technical value to the transportation engineering profession (10%)
- Dollar value of the project will not be a major consideration while evaluating submissions
