This behind-the-scenes our will provide a firsthand look at the manufacturing process, from production and fabrication to the finished products that become part of our transportation system. It's a unique opportunity to connect the products we see on our roadways every day with the people, processes, and craftsmanship that bring them to life.

Workshop: International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Workshop

Traffic signal cabinet troubleshooting requires an understanding of both the equipment inside the cabinet and the standards that govern its operation. This workshop will provide attendees with a practical overview of troubleshooting traffic signal cabinets, with an emphasis on identifying problems, understanding cabinet operations, and following a systematic approach to diagnosing equipment issues.
The session will review traffic signal cabinet standards, common cabinet components and their functions, and how those components interact during normal signal operation. Attendees will also explore troubleshooting procedures, proper documentation practices, and legal liability considerations associated with maintaining and servicing traffic signal equipment. Through a practical, operations-focused discussion, participants will gain a better understanding of how to recognize potential cabinet failures, document their findings, and methodically work through issues to support safe and reliable traffic signal operations.
Workshop: NJDOT Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP)

Achieving Target Zero requires more than individual safety projects—it requires a coordinated, statewide commitment to integrating safety into every transportation decision. This workshop will explore New Jersey’s evolution toward a comprehensive, proactive safety program, beginning with the Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP) and extending through data-driven investments, workforce development, and project delivery.
The workshop will highlight how the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), Target Zero Commission, and High Injury Networks help establish priorities, strengthen partnerships, and direct resources toward opportunities with the greatest potential to reduce fatalities and serious injuries. Building on this foundation, the workshop will examine how NJDOT has institutionalized the Safe System Approach through statewide training, technical guidance, project evaluation frameworks, and tools such as NJ-SAFE.
Through the two presentations, attendees will gain insight into how strategy, funding, training, and practical implementation work together to integrate safety earlier and more consistently throughout the project lifecycle. Real-world examples will demonstrate how New Jersey is translating Safe System principles into everyday decision-making and advancing a more collaborative, data-driven approach toward Target Zero.
